L'Enclume is the flagship restaurant of Simon Rogan. Based in the small village of Cartmel in south Cumbria Simon Rogan seems to occupy most of the village in one way or another. As well as the Michelin starred restaurants (note plural) there are multiple building in the village that provide accommodation as part of the Rogan enterprise. We had booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package so stayed at one of these buildings. It was rooms above a coffee shop with a separate entrance. Each room took up a whole floor of the building. Large bed, spacious sitting area and well equipped bathroom; well apart from any shelves to put you own toiletries, on well equipped. As with all the Simon Rogan restaurants I have been to the food was inventive and delicious, using local ingredients with flair. There is no choice and it is a tasting menu, fifteen courses but all small so easy to get through in two and half to three hours. Breakfast was served in one of the other Simon Rogan restaurants in the village and was good food well prepared with fresh bread, field mushrooms, bacon and decent coffee. My only reservation about visiting here is the location. I live in London so it is a long trip to the restaurant. I suppose it could be combined with a trip to the lake district or as a stop off travelling between England and Scotland. However, I would probably look to visit Simon Rogan's restaurant in London or even the one in Malta in preference to the long drive to Cartmel. Having said that the food was exceptional, the rooms were nice ands the staff all very well trained, professional and friendly. I am pleased to have been and would recommend it as an extra-special treat.

Came here for the restaurant and decided to use their rooms as well. Our room (Marigold) was spacious and comfortable. breakfast at the Rogan restaurant was amazing, real high quality mushrooms and bacon especially. Do not take American Express which I find unacceptable for an expensive hotel/restaurant with Michelin stars.

Dined at Rogan & Co and stayed at L’Enclume house as part of their Christmas offer. Had a wonderful time in Bradshaw room on the bottom floor. Had a big bath, great facilities and amazing underfloor heating. The breakfast the next day at Rogan & Co was amazing, and a check out time of 11am was much appreciated. Little bottle of milk and ginger beer are complimentary. The prices of the mini bar very reasonable, though couldn’t have anything else after an amazing dinner. Coffee machine in the room with Darkwoods coffee - really lovely touches including little mince pies when we arrived. We had a lovely stay. Thank you to all the staff for being so welcoming
Stayed here as part of l’enclume experience package. Room was large (Elderberry) and well appointed. Staff lovely. Bed was super comfy!
